Math For Love, a Seattle-based educational company, creates highly innovative math games and learning curriculums designed to transform student engagement. To support their expanding national footprint, they required an enterprise-grade digital storefront capable of seamlessly processing high-volume physical product sales alongside digital lesson plans. Their primary operational bottleneck was a fragmented e-commerce setup that struggled to handle complex shipping matrices, intricate tax rules, and diverse payment gateways without causing friction at checkout or creating heavy administrative bloat on the backend.
mathforlove E-commerce platforms selling both physical goods (like board games) and digital assets (like curriculum PDFs) across diverse tax jurisdictions often buckle under standard WooCommerce limitations. Math For Love needed a bulletproof infrastructure that could compute complex shipping and tax rules in real-time. Simultaneously, they required a highly flexible backend to provide their internal team with an intuitive way to manage highly visual lesson pages and game descriptions without relying on fragile drag-and-drop builders.
Taking the lead on this technical deployment, I bypassed off-the-shelf commercial themes and engineered a highly bespoke ACF-driven architecture. By writing custom PHP to handle the complex WooCommerce tax, shipping, and payment routing natively, I eliminated the need for heavy third-party checkout plugins. Simultaneously, I mapped their entire UI/UX into a modular CMS, allowing their team to effortlessly update text, imagery, and video assets across the site without ever risking layout fractures.
